Peace

From the prompt: “Peace is…”

In the darkness
When you have no idea what to say
(Or what to do with your life)
It’s not too hard to think
That Peace is not available just now
The world currently being so fraught
That Peace is the part of my life that I only dream about
The story in a different book
A little bit more than anything in this world
Or that Peace will not last past the next week
(Then the storm will come back)

Or Peace is god, and god is awful to me
Or Peace is death
Or not true, or not enough
You are not the intended recipient
I don’t think it will work for me
I want the world fixed
And how will Peace make it happen?
Peace is in the way of that
It will not even be able to be seen…

But Peace is not the absence of war
Nor perfect calm, or just “good vibes”
Peace is to be at peace
Peace is a way of thinking
(Peace is in the performance of peace)
Peace is retraining your mind
Being the way you want the world to be
Peace is in a bad way, but it’s a good thing
It is beautiful
It is in love, and comfort, and good company
It is a strong thing
(Celebrate it)

Peace is a good time to call many friends
To meet up, to come by
It is the way to the others
It is the key
And it is the truth of what you do for you
(And for us)
It is the truth of what I do
(My own manifesto)
It is the truth

Peace is a brilliant teacher
It’s the only way to get more information
It’s the best way to get to know where you are
To go about life
To get in my mind
To be happy

Peace is not the same thing as to get some sleep
It’s about your time and your wonderful life
Being in love with your own beautiful body
(I know I can get the hang of it)
Being free to enjoy the future together
Delivering the message of hope
(A good idea for all of us)
Peace is to make things fair
To not need
And that makes it very satisfying
And that’s the best thing
You could ever think

Peace is both a journey
And a good place to start
